"Rachel Grunwald's raging, exhilarating production......its anti-establishment potshots are ablaze with optimism and working-class pride. A musical for our time."
***** TIME OUT #1 CRITICS' CHOICE

It's a smart move to resurrect 'Pins And Needles' now. A witty Depression-era revue that satirises New-Deal-despising right-wing politicians, the greed of devious tax-dodgers, and union-bashing speaks directly to our own recession-hit times of savage government spending cuts and rising protest... The show manages to be both larky and passionate....I don't see how Grunwald's delightful, idiosyncratic cast could perform the material better." **** THE INDEPENDENT

"Best Musical on the Fringe... Brilliant. Hilarious. Encore!" ****REMOTE GOAT

"The work still packs that political punch, shedding light on both the intended audience and the potential power of popular music... Matthew Rutherford, Adam Walker and Mark Gillon are hilarious as the Demons of Advertising." THE STAGE

"Director Rachel Grunwald (with musical director Joseph Finlay) is to be congratulated on belatedly presenting the British premiere of a work that should have been in the repertoire long ago... the action rarely slows, with a stream of memorable highlights." BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE

"Both a fascinating historical document and a delightful piece of light entertainment... Josephine Kiernan comes close to stopping the show with the jive-jumping history lesson 'Sitting On Your Status Quo'."

‘Pins and Needles’ by Harold Rome is the only Broadway hit ever produced and performed by a labour union.
Featuring a great score and witty satirical skits, the show spoofs everything from fascist dictators to industrial relations and advertising claims, and broke box office records to become the longest running show in Broadway history until 1945.
